“When I found A Life Nourished I had already begun the journey of healing my relationship with food and my body. However, meeting Kaitlin gave me the opportunity to have the support to fully embrace finding complete food freedom and body acceptance.

“Is it kind? Is it true? Is it helpful?” These three questions sound simple enough when asked out loud, but they became my mantra whenever I caught myself in a shame spiral. She provided me simple, yet effective tools I needed to learn to be able to redirect my negative self-talk.

She helped me dig more into true intuitive eating and step out of the diet mentality that this, too, could eventually result in weight loss. I was proud of the work I had already done on my healing journey, but Kaitlin was able to recognize that there was still some diet culture language seeping through my thought processes. She challenged me to reconsider the purpose of eating intuitively and worked with me to navigate through years of diet culture mentality to get to the root of what was preventing me from accepting my body and myself as I am.

Kaitlin provided me the space and gentle guidance to get to a place mentally where I no longer need to rationalize, justify, or defend how I choose to show up for myself. The amount of free time I now have to dedicate to exploring myself and my interests now that my mental space isn’t fully occupied by controlling the size of my body is my favorite part of going through this journey. Kaitlin has help set me free from the restraints that diet culture had imposed on me and my mental health for the past decade. I couldn’t have done it without her!”

When I began working with Kaitlin, I thought I understood IE and only needed help introducing "gentle nutrition" back into my life. I was so wrong! Kaitlin helped me stop binging and find a solution to some digestive issues. In January, I went through a major health crisis that without help I would have easily blamed on weight and diet. With Kaitlin's help, my recovery has focused on what I am actually comfortable with instead of pushing myself with exercise and unnecessary dietary restrictions. I'm working on slowly becoming comfortable in my own body.

My husband and I decided to begin working with Kaitlin because we had both been through the dieting/restricting/binging cycle so many times and were exhausted by it. We wanted to learn to trust our bodies and to not demonize food. From the first moments of working with Kaitlin (the initial phone call and onboarding questionnaire), I knew we were in the best hands. Kaitlin is such a good listener, and she really tailored our sessions to what we wanted them to be. After our first official session I felt like a weight had been lifted - I knew that what we were experiencing in terms of our relationships with food were normal and that there were steps we could take to improve those relationships. My husband and I have both grown in so many ways since working with Kaitlin over five months. I am more in-tune with my body than ever before, paying attention to when I'm hungry and how certain foods make me feel. I'm enjoying the freedom of grocery shopping without looking at labels or stressing over calorie count. I never realized before just how much mental energy I was putting toward thinking about food, worrying about food, and feeling guilty about food. The freedom that I've gained has led to feeling more at peace. I don't get stressed about family gatherings with cake and ice cream, I am able to say "yes" to eating out with friends without feeling guilty about what I'll eat, and I don't beat myself up for enjoying a food that I'd previously categorized as "bad for me." Kaitlin has given me the tools that I need to have a positive relationship with my body and with food, which is something I've wanted for a very long time.
